If we could sum up the Kimpton Hotel Monaco Washington DC in one word it would be: fun. Your mood will lift as soon as you step into this whimsically decorated hotel, thanks to its fun design and charming, welcoming staff. Located just steps from a Metro station and only a few blocks from iconic DC sites such as the National Mall, White House, and Washington Monument, the Kimpton Hotel Monaco is the perfect base for a DC vacation.

Step out of the Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro station, and your eyes will be drawn to a stunning white marble building. Built in 1842 by famous architects including Robert Mills (the designer of the Washington Monument), this historic building originally housed the city’s General Post Office.

Today, the Kimpton Hotel Monaco has a central location. Nearby Metro stations provide easy access to almost any subway line that you could need. The Capitol, Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, and other famous monuments are all an easy walk away. The hotel is directly across the street from the Capital One Arena (home to the Washington Wizards and Washington Capitals), making it a great choice if you’re in town for a game.

With so much in the area to explore, how will you pack it all in if you have limited time? Borrow one of the hotel’s free cruiser bikes to help you get around faster.

If, after all that exploring, you need a pick-me-up, all rooms feature Nespresso or Keuring coffee and tea makers—or, venture down to the lobby in the morning for the hotel’s complimentary coffee and tea service.

To unwind at night, there’s also a nightly hosted evening wine reception in the lobby, where you can mingle with other guests and enjoy a free happy hour.

Need to stretch it out after a long day walking around DC? Free Gaiam yoga mats are provided in every room. Or, head down to the well-equipped fitness center which is open 24 hours (and offers complimentary headphones in case you forgot yours.)
